GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Assists in supervising skilled and semi-skilled workers engaged in maintaining and repairing automotive equipment; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require the use of judgment in assisting in the supervision of subordinates.

TYPICAL DUTIES
*1.Assists in assigning and supervising the work of automotive mechanics, automotive mechanic aides, and other subordinates.
*2.Inspects and road tests repaired vehicles to check for satisfactory completion of repairs.
*3.Supervises and instructs mechanics and other subordinates in the repair, overhaul, and general maintenance of automotive equipment.
4.Participates in testing, overhauling, and repairing automotive, marine, road maintenance, and/or construction equipment.
*5.Assists in maintaining time, equipment, and supply records, and in requisitioning supplies and equipment.
*TYPICAL ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Thorough knowledge of the methods and equipment used in automotive repair and maintenance.
2.Considerable knowledge of the construction, operation, repair, and maintenance of automotive, and road maintenance and construction equipment.
3.Considerable skill in the use and care of tools and equipment used in repairing and adjusting motor equipment.
4.Ability to locate defects and diagnose malfunctions in automotive equipment.
5.Ability to supervise and instruct mechanics and other subordinates in the repair, overhaul, and general maintenance of automotive equipment.
6.Ability to maintain time, equipment, and supply records.
7.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
8.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Completion of eighth grade education
and
Three years of satisfactory experience as an automotive mechanic.

Necessary Special Requirement
Continuing possession of an appropriate class, valid Driver's License.
