GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Supervises and performs baking duties and the preparation of desserts in an institutional kitchen; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require the exercise of considerable judgment in planning type and quantities of baked goods for daily meals or special events.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Supervises the preparation and measuring of ingredients for baking.
2.Supervises the baking of bread, cakes, cookies, pastries and biscuits.
3.Trains and instructs food service workers in the techniques, methods and procedures used in institutional baking.
4.Supervises the preparation of jello, puddings, custards and other desserts.
5.Supervises and participates in preparing fancy cakes, cookies and pastries for special social events and parties.
6.Insures that all utensils and work areas are kept clean and orderly.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Thorough knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in institutional baking and preparation of desserts.
2.Ability to supervise the preparation and measuring of ingredients used in institutional baking.
3.Ability to train and instruct assigned food service workers in the techniques, methods and procedures used in institution baking.
4.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Completion of grade school education;
and
2.Four years of experience in modern institutional or commercial baking.
