GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs skilled work in the repair and painting of automotive bodies; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under supervision, the position requires mechanical skill and the use of judgment and the work is reviewed for quality, accuracy, and completeness.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Rebuilds, replaces, and repairs automotive and truck bodies, grills, and frames.
2.Removes dents and straightens door panels, quarter panels, fenders and hoods.
3.Welds breaks and fractures in sheet metal and frames.
4.Prepares metal bodies for painting or refinishing and paints the bodies.
5.Supervises and instructs subordinates assigned to help with body work and painting.
6.Aligns doors, fenders, and other body parts.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, and equipment used in automotive body repair and painting work.
2.Skill in the care and use of welding, soldering, spray painting, and other tools and equipment employed in automotive body repair and painting work.
3.Ability to rebuild, replace, and repair automotive and truck bodies.
4.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Satisfactory course or training program in auto body repair work
and
Two years of experience in automotive body repair and painting work;
or
2.Satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience.
