GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Assists in planning, directing, and supervising the construction, operation, maintenance, and extension of power distribution facilities; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require the use of considerable judgment and the work is reviewed for accuracy and appropriateness by conferences and reports.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.
Assists in directing and supervising the construction, operation, and maintenance of an electric distribution system.
2.
Assists in preparing preliminary drafts and sketches of proposed work.
3.
Prepares estimates of materials and labor required for each project and issues work orders.
4.
Checks the installation and removal of overhead and underground electric distribution services.
5.
Prepares and files property records.
6.
Maintains card file on all equipment.
7.
Posts all property units in accordance with requirements of regulatory agencies.
8.
Checks and approves time and work schedules.
9.
Insures proper maintenance of line trucks and related equipment.
10.
Assists in directing transmission operations from generating plant to substations in certain areas, as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of the methods and techniques used in the operation and maintenance of an electric distribution system.
2.Considerable knowledge of statutory regulations governing the operation of an electric distribution system.
3.Ability to prepare sketches and rough drafts of proposed work projects relating to the system.
4.Ability to plan and direct subordinates in the operation and maintenance of an electric distribution system.
5.Ability to maintain records required by regulatory agencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Associate's degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with major course work in electrical technology
and
Five years of satisfactory experience in the construction, installation, and operation of electric distribution systems in commercial/industrial complexes such as shopping malls or manufacturing facilities consisting of several buildings.

NOTE:Experience, as outlined above, in excess of the five-year requirement, may be substituted for college education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years.
