GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs skilled work in the repair and painting of automotive bodies; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under direct supervision, the position requires mechanical skill and the use of judgment and the work is reviewed for quality, accuracy and completeness.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Rebuilds, replaces, and repairs automotive and truck bodies, grills and frames.
2.Removes dents and straightens door panels, quarter panels, fenders and holds.
3.Welds breaks and fractures in sheet metal and frames.
4.Prepares metal bodies for painting, refinishes and paints bodies.
5.Supervises and instructs subordinates assigned to help with body work and painting.
6.Aligns doors, fenders and other body parts.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices and equipment used in automotive body repair and painting work.
2.Skill in the care and use of welding, soldering, spray painting and other tools and equipment employed in automotive body repair and painting work.
3.Ability to rebuild, replace and repair automotive and truck bodies.
4.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Completion of vocational or technical school training
and
Four years of satisfactory experience in automotive body repair and painting work;
or
2.Six years of satisfactory experience in automotive body repair and painting work.
