GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Assists residents of an infirmary or other public institution in taking part in various activities; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under direct supervision, the duties require patience and understanding to encourage and help residents participate in activities.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Transports residents to and from activities both inside and outside the institution.
2.Assists residents in participating in various workshops.
3.Assists residents in various sports and physical movement programs.
4.Checks over games and equipment to see that they are in usable condition.
5.Keeps activity supply area neat and in order.
6.Assists staff in keeping records of residents' recreational activities.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Ability to establish rapport with the aged and mentally and physically handicapped.
2.Ability to learn the procedures and techniques used in the various workshops and other programs.
3.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Completion of eighth grade education
and
One year of satisfactory experience in a position involving group activities in an institution or group setting, such as, but not limited to, nurse's aide, hospital aide, teacher aide, recreation aide, health aide.
