GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, is responsible for the operation and maintenance of bathing facilities at a public beach, and for enforcing safety rules and regulations for protection of patrons. Does related work as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES


TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Supervises and assigns the work of subordinate personnel engaged in cleaning and maintenance operations and in safeguarding lives of patrons and in collection of monies; keeps time records and prepares work schedules and payroll for such personnel.
2.Regularly inspects bathing areas and all beach facilities and equipment to insure observance of health and safety measures; adherence to proper standards of cleanliness and adequacy of emergency equipment and supplies.
3.Requisitions supplies and equipment; maintains stock inventories; prepares periodic reports on beach operations; prepares seasonal budget estimates.
4.Responsible for collection of fees and rental charges from patrons; makes daily deposits and keeps reports on each collected.
5.Makes or supervises subordinates engaged in making minor repairs to beach installations and arranges for extensive repair work through qualified contractors.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Extensive knowledge of bathing beach management, operation and maintenance.
2.Knowledge of beach safety rules and regulations.
3.Ability to plan and supervise subordinate operating and maintenance personnel.
4.Ability to maintain records and keep simple accounts.
5.Ability to deal effectively with the public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Graduation from high school and at least three years of experience in operating and maintaining bathing facilities at a beach, swimming pool, or similar recreational establishment, including at least one year in a supervisory or administrative capacity;
or
2.Five years of experience in operating and maintaining bathing facilities at a beach, swimming pool, or similar recreational establishment, including at least one year in a supervisory or administrative capacity;
or
3.Satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.
