GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Receives, records, and deposits daily cash receipts at a county institution or department; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under direct supervision, the duties are routine and require the use of some judgment and the work is reviewed for accuracy and completeness.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.
Accepts, receipts, records, and prepares for deposit monies received from a variety of sources.
2.
Inspects checks for current endorsement, date, payee, amount and signature.
3.
Totals daily receipts, prepares deposit slips, bundles and seals cash receipts for delivery to bank or appropriate agency.
4.
Operates a cash register; responsible for shortages.
5.
Balances cash drawer daily.
6.
Maintains petty cash fund.
7.
Operates adding machine, and standard office machines as required.
8.
Prepares routine reports, and makes necessary journal entries.
9.
Answers questions concerning payment of taxes, services rendered and license fees based on established policies, rules and regulations.
10.
Examines legal documents in order to verify date of revenue due and computes refunds as require.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Knowledge of methods and techniques of receiving and receipting payments.
2.Knowledge of computing and operating office machines.
3.Knowledge of grammar, spelling and arithmetic.
4.Ability to make minor decisions on the basis of establishing policies, rules and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Graduation from high school
and
One year of satisfactory experience as a cashier, teller, or other clerical work involving the receipt of and accounting for sums of money.

NOTE:Experience, as outlined above, in excess of the one-year requirement, may be substituted for high school education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of two years.
