GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Assists in performing a variety of routine maintenance and repair tasks, and operates a school bus; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under direct supervision, the duties require the use of care, skill, and judgment in serving as an apprentice or helper to higher-ranking maintenance personnel and operating a school bus.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Assists in making electrical, heating, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, painting, and roofing repairs.
2.Performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance tasks.
3.Carries tools and supplies to work areas.
4.Maintains work tools, equipment, and work area in clean and good condition.
5.Assists in planting and maintaining shrubs, trees, and grass, and in performing other ground maintenance work.
6.Assists in operating a variety of automotive and maintenance equipment.
7.Operates a bus in the transportation of school children to and from prescribed destinations.
8.Cleans bus, and performs maintenance and minor repair tasks.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Knowledge of the methods and procedures used in buildings and grounds maintenance.
2.Skill in the operation of a bus.
3.Ability to care for and use tools and equipment needed to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair activities.
4.Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
5.Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time.

Necessary Special Requirement
Continuing possession of an appropriate class, valid Driver License issued by the State of New York, with no convictions for moving violations during the past year. Drivers must be at least 21 years of age.

NOTE:Candidates must satisfy all requirements of Article 19A of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. In addition, candidates must satisfy the requirements for School Bus Driver set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the New York State Commission of Education.
