4. | Performs autopsies involving bacteriological, chemical, and pathological examination. |
5. | Testifies in court and before the Grand Jury. |
6. | Assists in supervising the maintenance of records and the preparation of professional reports. |
7. | Supervises the Medical Examiner's Office in the absence of the Chief Medical Examiner. |
1. | Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, techniques, and current developments in the field of pathologic anatomy and clinical pathology. |
2. | Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, literature, and current developments in the field of forensic medicine, including clinical microscopy, toxicology, ballistics and investigative techniques. |
3. | Ability to exercise a high degree of ingenuity and independent judgment in solving complex problems arising in the performance of postmortem examinations. |
4. | Ability to plan, assign, review, and coordinate the work of diversified professional and technical personnel, and train them in the various phases of medico-legal work. |
5. | Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, law enforcement officers, and hospital officials. |
