GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Supervises the work of a group of manual workers; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under supervision, the duties involve planning and directing the work of subordinate personnel engaged in routine and repetitive tasks requiring the limited use of judgment.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.
Assigns work and leads workers in repairing and maintaining roads, culverts, guard rails, bridges, and septic tanks.
2.
Leads in the installation and maintenance of storm drains, sewers, manholes, catch basins, and main and service pipes.
3.
Supervises oiling of roads.
4.
Leads in the installation and maintenance of traffic signs and road markings.
5.
Oversees snow removal activities.
6.
Supervises erection of snow fences.
7.
Leads in planting, mowing grass, raking leaves, cleaning park areas, and performing other park and grounds maintenance activities.
8.
Patrols assigned area with labor crew and digs and drains ditches.
9.
Keeps records and makes reports on work done.
10.
May operate automotive equipment.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Knowledge of highway and building construction and of maintenance materials.
2.Knowledge of operations of highway and park maintenance and construction equipment.
3.Ability to understand and carry out oral and written assignments.
4.Ability to supervise workers, keep simple records, and make reports.
5.Ability to perform heavy manual tasks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Completion of elementary school
and
One year of satisfactory experience performing general laboring, construction, or maintenance tasks.
