GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Repairs electrical systems in automotive equipment; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under direct supervision, the position requires skill and the use of judgment and the work is reviewed for quality, accuracy and completeness.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Repairs, rebuilds and adjusts a variety of automotive or marine electrical apparatus.
2.Tests electrical systems to determine cause of malfunctioning.
3.Wires or rewires automotive and marine electrical equipment.
4.Makes and installs special ignition and other special electrical equipment devices.
5.Makes bushings and other special parts for electrical equipment.
6.Performs emergency service for automotive and marine equipment.
7.Performs some minor automotive mechanical tasks as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and equipment used in automotive electrical repair and maintenance.
2.Considerable knowledge of the functions of electrical systems in automotive equipment.
3.Some knowledge of the principles, practices and equipment used in automotive mechanics and of the operation of internal combustion engines.
4.Skill in the care and use of tools and test equipment employed in repairing, rebuilding and adjusting automotive electrical equipment.
5.Ability to locate defects and diagnose malfunctions in automotive electrical systems.
6.Ability to follow instructions and work from schematic diagrams and blueprints.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Completion of vocational or technical school training in automotive electricity;
and
Four years of satisfactory experience in the repair and maintenance of automotive electrical equipment;
or
2.Six years of satisfactory experience in the repair and maintenance of automotive electrical equipment.
