GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs research studies in a specialized field; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require the use of judgment in solving laboratory research problems.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Performs research studies in a specialized field.
2.Assists in developing new methods of studying problems requiring research.
3.Assists in planning the analyses related to research studies.
4.Assists in training resident physicians in the methods and techniques of laboratory studies and research.
5.Prepares technical reports on analyses.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Knowledge of the principles and practices of the specialized scientific field.
2.Knowledge of modern laboratory methods, equipment, and materials used in the specialized field.
3.Skill in the use, operation, and care of laboratory equipment and materials used in the specialized field.
4.Ability to conduct research in the specialized field.
5.Ability to prepare technical reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Master's degree in an appropriate field from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university.

NOTE:Satisfactory professional research experience, in the appropriate field, may be substituted for graduate education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of one year.
