GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under direct supervision, assists in capturing, caring for and disposing of stray or dangerous animals; performs related duties as required.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Patrols in a truck an assigned area to locate and capture stray dogs; responds to calls and complaints reporting dangerous, dead, sick or injured animals and requesting their removal; keeps simple records on captured animals.
2.Assists in cleaning and disinfecting animal cages and in feeding and watering animals; assists in disposing of animals as directed.
3.May operate a truck when patrolling areas; may perform a variety of routine maintenance and repair tasks within animal shelter, on adjacent grounds and in upkeep of trucks and equipment.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Working knowledge of acceptable techniques and methods of capturing, caring for and disposing of small animals.
2.Working knowledge of local ordinances governing the licensing and other requirements for owning small animals.
3.Skill in handling animals.
4.Ability to keep simple records.
5.Ability to perform routine maintenance tasks and make simple repairs.
6.Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Completion of elementary school and two years of paid experience as a kennel attendant or assistant in a pet shop;
or
2.Graduation from high school and one year of experience as described in (1);
or
3.Satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Requirement
Possession of an appropriate class, valid driver license issued by the State of New York.
