1. | Patrols in a truck an assigned area to locate and capture stray dogs; responds to calls and complaints reporting dangerous, dead, sick or injured animals and requesting their removal; keeps simple records on captured animals. |
2. | Assists in cleaning and disinfecting animal cages and in feeding and watering animals; assists in disposing of animals as directed. |
3. | May operate a truck when patrolling areas; may perform a variety of routine maintenance and repair tasks within animal shelter, on adjacent grounds and in upkeep of trucks and equipment. |
1. | Working knowledge of acceptable techniques and methods of capturing, caring for and disposing of small animals. |
2. | Working knowledge of local ordinances governing the licensing and other requirements for owning small animals. |
3. | Skill in handling animals. |
4. | Ability to keep simple records. |
5. | Ability to perform routine maintenance tasks and make simple repairs. |
6. | Ability to operate a motor vehicle. |
1. | Completion of elementary school and two years of paid experience as a kennel attendant or assistant in a pet shop; or |
2. | Graduation from high school and one year of experience as described in (1); or |
3. | Satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience. |
