GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Assists in the performance of professional medical services in designated clinical service areas or departments at the Nassau County Medical Center; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under supervision, Resident Physicians who have completed their residency requirements may serve a period not to exceed two years during which time they shall obtain their New York State license to practice medicine.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Assists with clinical problems, teaching, administration, and/or research in a clinical service area or department.
2.Makes rounds with Resident Physicians and Interns on service, assisting with patient care and consultations.
3.Teaches by means of special educational rounds and instructs in routine procedures and special techniques.
4.Assists in administrative matters such as revising routines.
5.Participates in all staff meetings and conferences, acting as secretary.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of medicine, particularly in field of specialty.
2.Knowledge of community groups, organizations, and resources.
3.Ability to exercise professional judgment.
4.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and associates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Graduation from an approved school of medicine with the degree of Doctor of Medicine
and
Completion of Residency in area of specialty.

Necessary Special Requirement
Eligibility for a license to practice medicine in New York State.
