GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs a wide variety of skilled maintenance masonry duties in the construction, maintenance, and grounds maintenance of facilities in public institutions and agencies; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under supervision, the position requires the use of judgment and skill and the work is reviewed for quality, accuracy, and completeness.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Prepares and sets forms; mixes cement and concrete.
2.Lays concrete for floors, pavements, walks, foundations, and a variety of other masonry work.
3.Performs plastering work for interiors of buildings and sets tiles as required.
4.Operates air hammer, cement mixer, and other related equipment.
5.Makes work-time estimates and keeps simple records.
6.Performs a wide variety of non-masonry maintenance and repair tasks as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in the masonry trade.
2.Skill in the care and use of masonry tools, materials, and equipment.
3.Skill in the application of concrete, plaster and other finishes with trowels, brushes, and other related tools.
4.Ability to perform a variety of non-masonry maintenance and repair tasks as required.
5.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Completion of vocational school training
and
Four years of satisfactory experience as a mason or a mason's helper;
or
2.Six years of satisfactory experience as a mason or a mason's helper.
