GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Assists the Director of Real Property Tax Services in assessing property for tax purposes; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under administrative direction, the duties involve the use of considerable independent judgment in assisting the Director with problems concerning assessment and real property taxes.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Assists the director in the development of the official tax map of Nassau County.
2.Assists in the coordination and education of the various assessors in the municipalities.
3.Confers with taxpayers or their representatives on problems concerning assessment and real property taxes.
4.Confers with public officials regarding their municipality's particular tax problem.
5.Acts as a liaison for procedures mandated by the State Board of Equalization and Assessment.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of tax valuation and assessment.
2.Thorough knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations relating to tax collection and assessment.
3.Knowledge of the principles of office management and fiscal administration.
4.Ability to express oneself effectively, both orally and in writing.
5.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, subordinates and the public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university
and
Six years of satisfactory administrative or supervisory experience which included:
a.Two years of providing an educational component for assessment services.
b.One year in a position requiring interaction with the public and/or public officials.
