GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs manual work in the operation of intermediate motorized construction and maintenance equipment; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under supervision, the position requires use of mechanical skill and judgment and the work is reviewed for quality, accuracy, and completeness.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.
Operates dumpster, street sweeper, basin cleaner, garbage truck, snow plow, vacuum leaf cleaner, and intermediate sizes of bulldozer, payloader, crane, roller, backhoe, and other motorized construction equipment.
2.
Services and performs minor maintenance work on assigned equipment.
3.
Keeps mileage record of equipment operated.
4.
Reports needed major repairs to supervisor or mechanic.
5.
May act as lead worker over a crew of laborers or other assigned personnel.
6.
May install, maintain, and/or remove highway signs.
7.
Performs a variety of manual or laboring tasks as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Knowledge of the care and safe operation of intermediate motorized construction and maintenance equipment.
2.Skill in the operation of intermediate motorized construction and maintenance equipment.
3.Ability to service and perform minor maintenance work on assigned equipment.
4.Ability to perform a variety of manual or laboring tasks.
5.Ability to keep simple records and to follow oral instruction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.One year of experience in the operation of intermediate motorized construction or road maintenance equipment;
or
2.Completion of at least one year of on-the-job training to acquire demonstrated skill in the operation of intermediate motorized equipment.

Necessary Special Requirement
Continuing possession of an appropriate, valid New York State Motor Vehicle license.
