GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Operates a school bus and performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled building maintenance tasks; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require care, skill, and considerable responsibility in operating a school bus. Skill is also required in performing a variety of maintenance tasks on buildings and equipment.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Operates a bus in the transportation of school children to and from prescribed destinations.
2.Performs routine maintenance work on bus, and insures that bus is operating safely and efficiently.
3.Repairs doors, locks, windows, roofs, sidewalks, and performs other general semi-skilled and skilled maintenance tasks.
4.Assists electricians, plumbers, or other skilled maintenance workers as required.
5.Transports and stores a variety of supplies and equipment.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Knowledge of the use and care of a variety of maintenance tools and equipment.
2.Skill in the operation of a bus.
3.Ability to perform routine maintenance on a bus and to insure its safe and efficient operation.
4.Ability to perform a variety of general unskilled and skilled maintenance tasks.
5.Ability to assist workers performing skilled maintenance tasks.
6.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Graduation from vocational or trade school
and
One year of satisfactory experience performing general or specialized maintenance and repair tasks in buildings, or on various types of equipment, furniture, tools, and so forth;
or
2.Three years of satisfactory experience performing general or specialized maintenance and repair tasks as in (1) above.

Necessary Special Requirement
Possession of an appropriate class, valid Driver License issued by the State of New York, with no convictions for moving violations during the past year. In addition, drivers must be at least 21 years of age.

NOTE:Candidates must satisfy all requirements of Article 19A of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. In addition, candidates must satisfy the requirements for School Bus Driver set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the New York State Commissioner of Education.
