GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs professional medical services in the examination and care of fire fighters and fire instructors and in the instruction of Emergency Medical Technology; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, this is responsible, professional work performed with considerable leeway for the exercise of independent judgment in the examination and treatment of fire training participants and in their instruction in emergency medical procedures. Duties are performed according to established medical procedures and objectives outlined by the Board.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Makes periodic examinations of Fire Instructors.
2.Prepares reports of medical examinations.
3.Provides emergency medical treatment.
4.Instructs participants in the Ambulance Emergency Medical Technician Program.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of medicine.
2.Ability to exercise sound professional judgment.
3.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relations with the staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered school of medicine
and
Two years of experience as a practicing physician.

Necessary Special Requirement
Eligibility for a license to practice medicine in New York State, and possession of the license at time of appointment.
