GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Fuses and cuts metallic articles, parts, and materials using acetylene, arc welding, and/or other types of welding equipment and may supervise subordinates; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties involve the use of considerable judgment in the performance of skilled welding and repair work.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Cuts and welds fences, construction equipment, automotive equipment, heating and plumbing apparatus, and other maintenance tools, machinery, and equipment.
2.Assists and participates in difficult repair, installation, and maintenance work.
3.Instructs and trains helpers in proper methods and procedures.
4.Supervises maintenance welders and assigned personnel.
5.Inspects and tests completed work.
6.Performs a variety of non-welding maintenance and repair tasks, as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in welding.
2.Considerable knowledge of the properties of ferrous and non-ferrous metals encountered in welding and soldering work.
3.Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment used in the welding trade.
4.Ability to perform a wide variety of welding tasks in the repair of machinery and equipment.
5.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
One year as a skilled, journey-level welder.
