GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs a variety of skilled maintenance, general repair and servicing of bridge apparatus; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the position requires the use of judgment and skill in performing a variety of skilled maintenance activities and the work is reviewed for accuracy and completeness. The position also requires the exercise of limited supervision.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Performs electrical and mechanical repair tasks to bridge apparatus.
2.Troubleshoots electrical circuitry to determine electrical defects and makes corrective repairs or adjustments.
3.Supervises the lubricating, cleaning, painting and other maintenance repair work.
4.Operates bridge after repairs have been made to insure that equipment is operating properly.
5.Initiates requisitions for supplies and equipment.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of the methods, material and equipment used in a variety of skilled maintenance and repair work to bridge apparatus.
2.Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment used in a variety of skilled maintenance and repair work to bridge apparatus.
3.Ability to perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair tasks to bridge apparatus.
4.Ability to work quickly and efficiently in emergency situations.
5.Ability to supervise and assign laborers, helpers or other assigned personnel.
6.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Completion of vocational school training in a mechanical or electrical trades
and
Four years of satisfactory skilled experience in installing, maintaining or operating mechanical and electrical machinery;
or
2.Two years of experience as a bridge mechanic.
