GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs and participates in installing and maintaining refrigeration and air conditioning facilities in an institution or public agency; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the position requires the use of judgment and skill and the work is reviewed for quality and completeness. Supervision of a small number of Maintenance Refrigeration Mechanics may be required.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Installs, maintains, and repairs refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
2.Maintains and repairs motors, compressors, pumps, and related equipment.
3.Prepares time estimates and maintains simple records.
4.Supervises Refrigeration Mechanics and other assigned personnel, as required.
5.Performs a variety of non-refrigeration maintenance and repair tasks, as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in the Refrigeration trade.
2.Considerable knowledge of the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems and equipment.
3.Skill in the care and use of refrigeration tools and equipment.
4.Ability to interpret and work from sketches and blueprints and to follow oral and written instructions.
5.Ability to supervise maintenance refrigeration mechanics and other assigned personnel.
6.Ability to perform a variety of non-refrigeration maintenance and repair tasks as required.
7.Ability to prepare work time estimates and maintain simple records.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Completion of vocational school training in refrigeration and air conditioning
and
Three years of satisfactory experience in the refrigeration and air conditioning trade;
or
2.Five years of satisfactory experience in the refrigeration and air conditioning trade.
