GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Instructs Firemen in fire fighting and fire prevention; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require responsibility for the development, coordination and implementation of an instruction program for fire fighting, fire prevention and fire safety policies and practices. The work is performed independently and is reviewed through conferences and meetings.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Plans and conducts classes in fire fighting and fire prevention.
2.Plans and conducts classes in first aid and safety procedures.
3.Instructs and trains Firemen in all phases of fire fighting.
4.Prepares and presents visual aids on fire fighting methods and procedures.
5.Advises and assists in planning policy and training programs.
6.Inspects and recommends fire fighting equipment and fire alarm systems.

*TYPICAL ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of fire-fighting techniques and procedures.
2.Considerable knowledge of safety practices.
3.Considerable knowledge of first aid.
4.Knowledge of methods and procedures of instruction.
5.Ability to prepare and effectively present visual aids.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Graduation from high school
and
A. Five years of service as a volunteer Firefighter in Nassau County
and
B. Completion of a Hazardous Materials Operations Course that meets OSHA requirements.

Necessary Special Requirement
Continuing possession of an appropriate class, valid Driver License, issued by the State of New York.
