GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Coordinates the County automotive transmission maintenance and repair program; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require the use of considerable judgment in planning and coordinating the work of skilled automotive maintenance subordinates.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Supervises the repair, rebuilding and replacement of automotive transmissions.
2.Supervises periodic inspections of automotive transmissions to insure proper functioning.
3.Implements preventative maintenance programs according to established schedules and procedures.
4.Supervises emergency road service.
5.Maintains records and prepares reports.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Extensive knowledge of the methods, practices and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of automotive transmissions.
2.Extensive knowledge of the methods, practices and equipment used in automotive repair and maintenance.
3.Ability to locate, diagnose and repair defects and malfunctions in automotive equipment.
4.Ability to plan, supervise and direct the activities of subordinate technical personnel.
5.Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Completion of technical school training in automotive maintenance
and
Seven years of satisfactory experience as a skilled automotive mechanic, including four years during which the primary responsibility was the repair and maintenance of automotive transmissions;
or
2.Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by courses in automotive maintenance
and
Eight years of satisfactory experience as a skilled automotive mechanic, including four years during which the primary responsibility was the repair and maintenance of automotive transmissions.

Necessary Special Requirement
Continuing possession of an appropriate class, valid Driver's license issued by the State of New York.
