GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Supervises the installation and maintenance of plumbing facilities in public institutions and agencies; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require planning and directing the skilled activities of subordinate personnel.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Supervises the maintenance and repair of a variety of plumbing facilities.
2.Prepares sketches and drawings; interprets blueprints.
3.Inspects completed work for quality and completeness.
4.Prepares time and equipment estimates; keeps records and prepares reports.
5.Instructs plumbers and helpers in proper methods and procedures.
6.Participates in difficult installation, maintenance, and repair work.
7.Submits requisitions for parts and equipment.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in the plumbing trade.
2.Considerable knowledge of flows, pressure and capacities of water tanks, piping and other equipment.
3.Skill in the care and use of plumbing tools and equipment.
4.Ability to prepare sketches and drawings and to interpret blueprints.
5.Ability to perform difficult installations and maintenance work.
6.Ability to prepare work-time and equipment estimates and to keep records and prepare reports.
7.Ability to supervise and instruct subordinate personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Completion of vocational school training
and
Six years of satisfactory experience as a plumber or plumber's helper, two of which must have been at the journeyman's level;
or
2.Eight years of satisfactory experience as a plumber or plumber's helper, two of which must have been at the journeyman's level.
