GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Participates in, and supervises the activities of a group of subordinates engaged in unskilled manual work; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require the use of judgment in supervising subordinates engaged in routine and repetitive tasks.

TYPICAL DUTIES
*
1.
Assigns work, and leads workers in repairing and maintaining roads, culverts, guard rails, bridges, and septic tanks.
*
2.
Leads in installing and maintaining storm drains, sewers, manholes, catch basins, and main and service pipes.
*
3.
Supervises oiling of roads.
*
4.
Leads in the installation and maintenance of traffic signs and road markings.
*
5.
Supervises snow removal activities.
*
6.
Leads in planting, mowing grass, raking leaves, cleaning park areas, and performing other park and grounds maintenance activities.
*
7.
Patrols assigned area with labor crew and digs and drains ditches.
*
8.
Maintains records and prepares simple reports on work done.
*
9.
Operates automotive equipment, as required.
10.
Recommends purchase of new equipment, as required.

*TYPICAL ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Knowledge of highway and building construction and maintenance materials.
2.Knowledge of the operations of highway and park maintenance and construction equipment.
3.Ability to understand and carry out oral and written assignments.
4.Ability to supervise workers, maintain simple records, and prepare reports.
5.Ability to perform heavy manual tasks.
6.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Completion of eighth grade education
and
One year of satisfactory experience performing general laboring, construction, or maintenance tasks.
