GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under supervision, drives a line truck and assists in the erection, installation and maintenance of electric power lines and poles; performs related duties as required.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Drives a line truck and operates the equipment thereon in assisting line maintainers in setting and equipping poles; raises poles by means of a winch; passes tools and equipment from ground to pole.
2.Performs necessary ground work such as assisting (from ground) in stringing cables; may dig holes for power poles; may trim trees in the path of overhead wires.
3.Performs assigned tasks designed to acquaint employee with all aspects of line maintainers.
4.May be responsible for the maintenance of the truck and the stock and equipment used by the line maintainer.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Working knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the installation and maintenance of electric power lines and poles.
2.Ability to drive a line truck and operate equipment thereon used for setting and equipping poles.
3.Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Completion of elementary school and one year of ground experience in the installation and maintenance of power lines and poles;
or
2.Satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Requirement
Possession of an appropriate class, valid Driver's License issued by the State of New York.
