| 7. | | Performs complex examinations, analysis and comparisons of handwritten, typewritten, printed and photocopied materials to establish identity, origin, authorship, and authenticity. |
| 8. | | Performs complex examinations, analysis and comparison of evidence using visible, ultraviolet or infrared light, as well as microscopes, video spectral comparator and electrostatic detection apparatus to detect alterations, forgeries, and indentations. |
| 9. | | Performs complex restorations of obliterated documents using various chemical and physiochemical techniques and performs chromatographic and chemical tests on ink, typewriter ribbon and other related evidence. |
| 10. | | Meets with attorneys, investigators and other related personnel regarding approaches to analysis and results in pretrial conferences. |
| 11. | | Participates in scientific meetings, seminars and other training as assigned. |
| 12. | | Interprets test results, keeps records of observations and notes, and issues reports of test results. |
| 13. | | Testifies in court regarding laboratory analyses and the significance of the results as required. |
| 14. | | Performs housekeeping tasks as required, including maintaining related supplies and reference materials. |
| 15. | | Trains or oversees training for subordinate laboratory personnel and maintains training records. |
| 16. | | Responsible for the inventory, maintenance, storage, and disposition of evidence. |
| 17. | | Participates in internal and external proficiency testing programs. |
| 18. | | May administer internal proficiency testing, evaluate results and recommend training to improve the quality of laboratory staff. |

2. | | Comprehensive knowledge of the photographic, illuminating and photo-reproductive techniques and devices used in the analysis of questioned documents. |

4. | | Comprehensive knowledge of the design and operation of various mechanical printing and lettering devices, such as typewriters and copying machines. |
5. | | Comprehensive knowledge of penal law and rules of evidence as it applies to questioned document examination. |

7. | | Skill in the application of laboratory and scientific research practices and techniques to questioned document analysis. |
