GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under supervision, assists in the supervision of manual workers engaged in the maintenance and repair of roads and bridges; performs related duties as required.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Assists in planning, assigning, and supervising workers and the operation of equipment engaged in the maintenance and repair of roads, shoulders, bridges, culverts, drain and pipe lines, catch basins and other related structures.
2.Operates highway equipment as necessary and performs skilled and unskilled labor duties as required.
3.Supervises subordinates engaged in manual tasks.
4.Assists in supervising garage and yard labor work.
5.Assists in making road inspections and checking progress of work.
6.Keeps time and work records.
7.Assists in supervision of snow removal and ice control measures.
8.Assists in ordering material and supplies.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Knowledge of tools, equipment, and procedures involved in the repair and maintenance of roads and related structures.
2.Knowledge of the operations of highway maintenance and construction equipment.
3.Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions related to the work.
4.Ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to keep records and prepare reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Graduation from elementary school and one year of experience in construction, maintenance or repair of roads, sewers, parks or water systems;
or
2.Satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience.
