GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs routine tasks in the preparation and serving of food; performs manual tasks in kitchens, wards and dining rooms; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under direct supervision, the duties are routine and require the use of limited judgment.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Prepares and serves salads, eggs, toast, pancakes, coffee and other simple foods.
2.Participates in the preparation of trays for patients on regular or modified diets.
3.Delivers correct food tray to correct patient by checking name of patient on wristband and coordinating with name on tray.
4.Prints name, ward, room number, diet and other required information on tray card for each patient.
5.Follows carefully instructions on tray card and menu when preparing each tray.
6.Scrapes dishes and utensils when they are returned from patients and dining areas.
7.Cleans work area, dining area and all related equipment.
8.Obtains food and supplies from distribution area.
9.Assists dietitians, food service supervisors and cooks as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Ability to learn the preparation of required foods.
2.Ability to learn to serve correct foods to patients on regular and modified diets.
3.Ability to remember foods prohibited on some modified diets.
4.Ability to learn proper procedure for serving trays to patients.
5.Ability to learn the methods, procedures and operation of equipment and machines used in the preparation of food, service of food and cleaning of ware, kitchens, work areas, dining rooms and related areas and equipment.
6.Ability to learn and observe sanitary and safety regulations.
7.Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak English.
2.No prior experience required.
