GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Assists the Deputy Comptroller by performing responsible confidential staff work involving varied and special assignment; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under administrative direction, the position requires the use of independent judgment in performing special assignments and confidential investigations. The work is evaluated through review by an administrative superior.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Performs special confidential assignments in connection with evaluating and developing departmental programs and assisting in developing departmental regulations and implementing operational procedures.
2.Conducts confidential investigations on allegations of incorrect practices in County departments.
3.Performs confidential field work, as required, to "test" security and internal controls at County facilities.
4.Recommends and prepares changes and improvements in type and format of printed material as requirements demand.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of methods and techniques of conducting investigations and examinations.
2.Knowledge of principles and practices of public administration.
3.Ability to perform staff assignments requiring organization of material and development of procedures.
4.Ability to speak and write effectively.
5.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Graduation from high school
and
Five years of responsible experience in administration, staff, special assignment, or confidential investigative work;
or
2.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience.
