GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Operates a school bus, and performs routine groundskeeping duties; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, this is routine manual work calling for the services of a skilled operator, and involving responsibility for the safety of school children. The position also entails elementary groundskeeping tasks.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Operates a school bus on a regular schedule.
2.Cleans, washes, and polishes bus.
3.Performs semi-skilled manual work in grounds maintenance activities.
4.Mows lawns; trims hedges; rolls, reseeds, and fertilizes lawns; plants and cares for trees, shrubs, and flowers.
5.May operate a variety of grounds maintenance equipment.
6.Prepares ball fields, etc.
7.Participates in miscellaneous jobs inside building during winter months, as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Knowledge of the accepted procedures and practices of grounds maintenance work.
2.Knowledge of the operation of buses and other automotive equipment.
3.Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
4.Ability to make minor mechanical repairs.
5.Ability to protect and get along with children.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
One year of satisfactory experience in grounds maintenance work.

Necessary Special Requirement
Possession of an appropriate class, valid Driver License issued by the State of New York, with no convictions for moving violations during the past year. In addition, drivers must be at least 21 years of age.

NOTE:Candidates must satisfy all requirements of Article 19-A of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. In addition, candidates must satisfy the requirements for School Bus Driver set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the New York State Commissioner of Education.
