GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Directs and supervises all activities in the Dental Department of the Medical Center; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under administrative direction, the duties require the exercise of considerable judgment in setting the standards of quality of professional performance in the Dental Department at the Medical Center.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Coordinates and supervises all activities in the Dental Department.
2.Checks needs for work requested and establishes standards of quality.
3.Organizes, prepares, and schedules conferences based on case histories and lectures to the hospital staff.
4.Provides clinical consultation and treatment services to patients.
5.Supervises the maintenance of records, clinical files and the preparation of professional reports.
6.Participates in education of resident physicians on this service.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of dental medicine.
2.Knowledge of community groups, organizations, and resources.
3.Ability to exercise sound professional judgment.
4.Ability to supervise subordinate personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Graduation from an approved school of dentistry
and
Five years of satisfactory professional experience in the field of dentistry including three years in an administrative capacity.

Necessary Special Requirement
License to practice dentistry in the State of New York.
