GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Assists in performing a wide variety of maintenance and repair tasks in the upkeep of a housing authority's buildings, grounds, and apartment fixtures, plumbing, and equipment; performs related duties as required.
COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require the use of some judgment and skill in performing the various maintenance functions at a public housing authority.

TYPICAL DUTIES

1.
Assists in repairing apartment electrical equipment, fixtures, wiring, and outlets.
*
2.
Assists in repairing apartment plumbing and clearing stoppages.
*
3.
Assists in maintaining heating, refrigeration, and laundry equipment.
*
4.
Assists in replacing tiles and repairing window frames, floors, cabinets, doors, and locks.
*
5.
Uses a variety of hand and power tools in performing apartment and grounds maintenance work.
*
6.
Prepares and paints apartments and exterior surfaces.
*
7.
Cleans out sewer lines.
*
8.
Cuts grass with power mower, and prunes shrubbery.
*
9.
Removes snow manually and with power equipment.
10.
Processes paperwork regarding notifications of defects and the actions taken to complete necessary repairs.
11.
Keeps track of the supplies and materials on hand, and requests additional items as needed.

*ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Knowledge of the methods and procedures used in buildings and grounds maintenance.
2.Ability to perform a variety of semi-skilled building maintenance and repair tasks and to assist in more difficult ones.
3.Ability to care for and use the tools and equipment needed to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks.
4.Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Completion of tenth grade education
and
One year of satisfactory experience performing building maintenance and repair tasks;
or
2.Two years of satisfactory experience as outlined above.
