GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Supervises maintenance and repair of greens, tees, roughs, fairways, and practice putting greens for a golf course; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require the use of judgment in planning, organizing, and directing the activities of subordinate personnel engaged in the maintenance and care of a golf course.

TYPICAL DUTIES

1.Supervises seeding, mowing, fertilizing, top dressing, insect control and general care of golf greens, tees, roughs, fairways, and putting greens.

2.Supervises spraying, watering, and mowing of fairways, greens, and tees.
*
3.Inspects completed work for quality and completeness.
*
4.Prepares day and evening shift work schedules.
*
5.Requisitions materials, supplies, and equipment for maintenance and care of golf course.
*
6.Inspects sodding and conditioning of turf, and directs repairs and maintenance.
7.Undertakes special projects, as required.

*TYPICAL ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, procedures, tools, materials, and equipment used in maintenance and care of golf greens and surrounding grounds.
2.Knowledge of pesticides and their application.
3.Ability to supervise subordinate personnel in all aspects of greenskeeping maintenance.
4.Ability to maintain simple records.
5.Ability to perform manual labor.
6.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
7.Ability to express oneself effectively, both orally and in writing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Graduation from high school
and
Three years of satisfactory experience maintaining golf greens and/or related grounds.

Necessary Special Requirement
1.Possession of a current, valid certificate from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation as a Certified Commercial Applicator, in Pest Control, Category 3-A, Ornamental and Shade Trees, including Turf.
2.As part of the above-mentioned certificate, Categories 5-A, Aquatic (Vegetation), and 5-B, Aquatic (Insect), must be obtained within 12 months of the date of appointment.
