GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist performs patient related activities as assigned; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under direct supervision, the position requires the use of judgment and the duties are performed in accordance with physical therapy practices and policies.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Assists in performing professional physical therapy treatments for patients in hospitals, nursing homes and other institutions.
2.Provides routine training in activities of daily living with or without the use of prosthetics or other equipment.
3.Assists in the preparation of patients to receive treatments in accordance with planned programs.
4.Assists in the maintenance and care of equipment and supplies.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Knowledge of the modern principles, techniques, and equipment used in physical therapy.
2.Knowledge of possible hazards to patients during treatment and necessary remedial measures.
3.Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
4.Some skill in applying massages to established techniques.
5.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Possession of a certificate as a Physical Therapist Assistant issued by New York State Department of Education.

NOTE: In lieu of the above, possession of a limited permit to practice at the Nassau Health Care Corporation is acceptable.
