GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Supervises the painting of buildings, fixtures, and equipment in an institution or public agency; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the position requires the use of judgment in planning and directing skilled activities of subordinate maintenance painting personnel.

TYPICAL DUTIES

1.Supervises the preparation and/or painting of buildings and a variety of fixtures and equipment.
*
2.Supervises the safe erection of scaffolding and positioning of ladders.
*
3.Inspects completed work for quality and completeness.
*
4.Prepares time and equipment estimates, maintains records and prepares reports.
*
5.Submits requisitions for paints, painting tools, and other related equipment.
*
6.Instructs painters and helpers in proper methods and procedures.
7.Hangs and applies wallpaper, as required.

*TYPICAL ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in the painting trade.
2.Considerable skill in the care and use of painting tools, materials, and equipment.
3.Ability to supervise and inspect the preparation of surfaces to be painted, and/or papered, the mixing and matching of paints, and/or the application of paints, and/or wall coverings, and other finishes to a variety of surfaces.
4.Ability to prepare work time and equipment estimates, and to maintain records and prepare reports.
5.Ability to perform skilled painting activities.
6.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
7.Ability to express oneself effectively, both orally and in writing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
One year of satisfactory experience as a skilled, journey-level painter.
