GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Supervises and coordinates a number of labor crews engaged in unskilled tasks or a small crew engaged in semi-skilled or skilled tasks; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the position requires the use of judgment in planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of subordinate supervisors engaged in supervising routine and repetitive labor and maintenance tasks or the supervision of subordinates engaged in semi-skilled or skilled tasks.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Lays out, assigns and supervises skilled, semi-skilled or unskilled manual tasks.
2.Inspects road conditions and surrounding areas daily and assigns maintenance crews as necessary.
3.Lays out, assigns and supervises the work of subordinates engaged in sorting, stacking, or delivering materials, supplies, parcels, mail or equipment.
4.Maintains work time and material records.
5.Drives trucks and operates other motorized equipment, as required.
6.Acts as liaison between labor crews and highway maintenance headquarters.
7.Performs semi-skilled or skilled manual tasks on a relief basis.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of the materials, methods and equipment used in maintenance and construction activities.
2.Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions related to the work.
3.Ability to assign, supervise, coordinate and inspect the activities of subordinate personnel.
4.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
5.Ability to maintain records and prepare simple reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Completion of elementary school education
and
Two years of satisfactory experience performing manual construction or maintenance tasks.

Necessary Special Requirement
Continuing possession of an appropriate class, valid Driver License issued by the State of New York.
