GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under supervision, guards a building, institution or grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Periodically tours building grounds, or other designated area to examine doors, windows and gates to insure that they are properly secured and have not been tampered with.
2.Turns key or otherwise records visits at each watch-clock station to indicate that rounds have been completed at specified intervals.
3.Reports any unusual conditions or breakdowns in heating plumbing and electrical systems, attempted thefts, entries, vandalism or fires.
4.May perform a variety of unskilled tasks such as sweeping, emptying waste baskets, operating elevators, attending to night parking areas. taking care of a small boiler, or answering night telephone calls.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Knowledge of area to be guarded, including layout of buildings and location of equipment.
2.Ability to act quickly and efficiently in emergency situations.
3.Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions.
4.Ability to perform variety of repair and maintenance tasks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Completion of eight grade education.

Necessary Special Requirement
Continuing possession of registration as a security guard issued by the New York State Department of State.
