GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs professional pharmacist duties at a hospital, infirmary, or similar institution; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require the use of independent judgment in mixing compounds, dispensing drugs and pharmaceutical supplies, and supervising subordinate personnel.

TYPICAL DUTIES

1.Compounds and dispenses prescriptions of physicians.
*
2.Furnishes information concerning medications to physicians and nurses.
*
3.Maintains inventory of pharmaceutical supplies; prepares requisitions of drugs, chemicals, and other preparations.
*
4.Maintains records regarding the supply and dispensation of narcotics and alcohol.
*
5.Supervises and instructs subordinates performing routine pharmaceutical work.
6.Attends seminars regarding current developments in the field.
7.Compiles data for special reports.

*ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of pharmacy and pharmacology.
2.Knowledge of federal and state laws regulating the practice of pharmacy.
3.Ability to prepare pharmaceutical compounds on a routine basis.
4.Ability to compound drugs with absolute accuracy.
5.Ability to accurately maintain various records.
6.Ability to supervise subordinates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Continuing possession of a license and current registration by the New York State Education Department as a Pharmacist.
