1. | Surveys roads and inspects for damage, missing and needed replacement of signs. | |
2. | Prepares and interprets sketches and diagrams relating to positioning of signs and specifications for sign construction. | |
3. | Insures visibility of signs and sees that they are installed according to prescribed specifications. | |
4. | Requisitions supplies and equipment and supervises the storage, receiving, and issuing of all tools, materials and equipment; estimates labor and equipment needs. | |
5. | Maintains time and equipment records and prepares reports. |
1. | Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials and techniques used in the painting, construction and installation of signs. |
2. | Considerable knowledge of New York State Manual of Uniform Controls and Devices relating to sign construction and installation. |
3. | Some knowledge of the principles of traffic engineering. |
4. | Ability to direct and coordinate skilled work in sign shop activities and installation of signs. |
5. | Ability to estimate labor and equipment needs and to supervise the requisitioning and maintenance of supplies and equipment. |
6. | Ability to keep comprehensive records and prepare reports. |
