GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Supervises a wide variety of skilled maintenance masonry tasks in the construction maintenance, and grounds maintenance of facilities in an institute or public agency; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require planning and directing the skilled activities of subordinate personnel.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Supervises the maintenance and repair of a variety of building facilities and grounds.
2.Inspects completed work for quality and completeness.
3.Prepares time and equipment estimates; keeps records and prepares reports.
4.Instructs masons and helpers in proper methods and procedures.
5.Participates in difficult maintenance and repair work.
6.Submits requisitions for supplies and equipment.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in the masonry trade.
2.Skill in the care and use of masonry tools, materials, and equipment.
3.Ability to prepare time and equipment estimates and to keep records and prepare reports.
4.Ability to perform the more difficult maintenance masonry functions.
5.Ability to supervise and instruct masons and other assigned personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Completion of vocational school training
and
Six years of satisfactory experience as a mason or a mason's helper, two of which must have been at the journeyman's level;
or
2.Eight years of satisfactory experience as a mason's helper, two of which must have been at the journeyman's level.
