GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
This position is for currently enrolled secondary school students as part of the school's occupational education work-study program in the trades. Learns to assist journey-level trade workers in performing various duties in line with specialized area of vocational training; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under direct supervision, the duties are manual in nature, require the application of the principles, practices, and methods of the trade learned at school, and are performed on a part-time basis.

TYPICAL DUTIES
*1. Learns to assist plumbers and steamfitters in opening blocked drains, repair faucets, cutting and threading pipes, and other related repair and maintenance work.
*2. Learns to assist electricians in performing general maintenance and repair work on electrical equipment.
*3. Learns to masons in repairing plaster, mixing and pouring cement, and other related repair and maintenance work.
*4. Learns to assist carpenters in repairing floors, screens, windows, and other related repair and maintenance work.
*5. Learns to assist in the use of electrically operated devices used by workers in the trade.
*6. Learns to make minor electrical repairs and adjustments to mechanical equipment, and to oil and clean machinery.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
2.Ability to learn and develop the necessary skills in the care and use of tools and equipment used to perform the duties of the trade.

Training and Experience
Current enrollment as a secondary school student between the ages of 14 and 19.
