1. | Assists in planning and assigning the work of subordinate automotive mechanics. |
2. | Performs skilled repair work on automobiles, trucks, vans and other automotive equipment. |
3. | Repairs, overhauls, or replaces spark plugs, valves, clutches, generators and other automotive parts and equipment. |
4. | Trouble shoots, road tests and tunes up equipment to insure efficiency. |
5. | Inspects inmates for contraband and maintains security precautions at all times. |
6. | Maintains inventory of supplies, keeps service, mileage and other records, prepares reports. |
7. | Performs emergency road service. |
8. | Performs duties as a Correction Officer on a temporary basis, as required, at the discretion of the Sheriff or his designated officer. |
1. | Considerable knowledge of the methods and practices used in automotive repair and maintenance. |
2. | Knowledge of the principles of the operation and construction of internal combustion engines. |
3. | Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment employed in repairing and adjusting automotive equipment. |
4. | Ability to locate, diagnose and repair defects and malfunctions in automotive equipment. |
5. | Ability to maintain security precautions. |
6. | Ability to maintain inventories and to keep records and prepare reports. |
7. | Ability to follow oral and written instructions. |
8. | Ability to learn the use and care of firearms. |
