* | 1. | Conducts arraignment proceedings and pretrial and post-conviction hearings before the State Supreme Court, and the County Court. |
* | 2. | Conducts arguments pertaining to appeals before the appellate courts. |
* | 3. | Prepares and submits documents, briefs, and memoranda of law to the Courts. |
* | 4. | Assists the Assistant District Attorney in making presentations before a Grand Jury. |
5. | Compiles data for special projects, as required. |
1. | Knowledge of basic legal principles, practices, and procedures related to the prosecution of crimes. |
2. | Knowledge of applicable statutes, laws, Court decisions, and rulings pertaining to violations of laws. |
3. | Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. |
4. | Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental and Court staffs. |
NOTE: | Disapproval by the Committee on Character and Fitness shall result in termination in the position. |
In the event of failure to pass the initial examination, appointment may be made or continue, contingent upon taking and passing the next available examination. |
