GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs professional occupational therapy evaluation and treatment; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require the use of judgment in performing professional occupational therapy evaluation and treatment.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Performs professional occupational therapy evaluation and treatment.
2.Selects appropriate treatment activities or situations suited to patients' specific physical or emotional needs.
3.Makes adjustments in the program in accordance with patients' progress.
4.Requests supplies and equipment according to established procedures.
5.May lead and delegate tasks to assigned personnel in their relationship with, and their attitudes toward and responsibilities for, patients.
6.Prepares reports and maintains records in accordance with established procedures.
7.Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings.
*ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Knowledge of the principles, practices, materials and equipment of occupational therapy.
2.Knowledge of occupational therapy equipment, supplies requisitioning, and inventory control.
3.Knowledge of applicable health and safety precautionary measures.
4.Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
5.Ability to create and sustain patient interest in treatment activities.
6.Ability to use the interpersonal situation effectively to benefit the patient.
7.Ability to plan specific treatment programs in accordance with indicated needs of patient.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Continuing possession of a license and current registration by the New York State Education Department as an Occupational Therapist.

NOTE:In lieu of the above, possession of a limited permit to practice at the Nassau Health Care Corporation is acceptable.
