GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Conducts confidential analytical work in the review, extraction, examination and compilation of highly sensitive and complex classified and unclassified data to provide intelligence information for criminal and terrorism related investigations; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require the exercise of considerable judgment in conducting confidential analytical work in the review, extraction, examination and compilation of highly sensitive and complex classified and unclassified data to provide intelligence information for criminal and terrorism related investigations.

TYPICAL DUTIES

Conducts confidential analytical work in the review, extraction, examination and compilation of highly sensitive and complex classified and unclassified data to provide intelligence information for criminal and terrorism related investigations.

2.
Collects, compiles, reviews, analyzes, and monitors classified and unclassified data from various sources.
*
3.
Creates and maintains a highly complex intelligence database.
4.
Maintains contact with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies regarding highly confidential multi-regional investigations.

5.
Analyzes organizational flow, creates link charts and performs link analysis to graphically demonstrate relationships between entities and time.
6.
Estimates probabilities of future terrorist and criminal activity.
*
7.
Recognizes and identifies conditions, trends and patterns in area of specialization.
8.
Establishes criminal and terrorism profiles.
*
9.
Interprets and synthesizes data into investigative reports, graphic presentations of data, charting of events, and other illustrative devices for visual presentation of data.
10.
Produces computer generated maps displaying crime activity.
11.
Develops and conducts training courses on intelligence analysis, terrorism and related topics.

12.
Testifies in court, as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.
Considerable knowledge of intelligence databases.
2.
Considerable knowledge of intelligence software applications, including computer assisted link analysis.
3.
Considerable knowledge of criminal and terrorism related activities, trends, relationships, investigations and intelligence.
4.
Considerable knowledge of research methods and techniques.
5.
Considerable knowledge of Geographic Information System (GIS) applications.
6.
Ability to obtain and analyze data in a variety of formats, and interpret results.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university, including a criminal justice internship.

NOTE:1.One year of satisfactory experience performing criminal justice and/or intelligence analysis of classified and unclassified data may be substituted for the criminal justice analyst internship.
2.A Master's degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a major in Accounting, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Finance, a foreign language, History, Homeland Security, International Relations, Math, Politics or Statistics may substitute for the criminal justice analyst internship.
3.A verifiable internship in a criminal justice and/or intelligence agency may substitute for the criminal justice analyst internship as outlined above.
