GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Supervises and coordinates a number of labor crews or a large labor crew engaged in semi-skilled and unskilled tasks or a small crew engaged in skilled tasks; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties include planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of assigned personnel or supervisory personnel engaged in supervising routine and repetitive labor and maintenance tasks.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Lays out, assigns, and supervises skilled, semi-skilled, or unskilled manual tasks.
2.Inspects road conditions and surrounding areas daily and assigns maintenance crews as necessary.
3.Keeps work-time and material records.
4.Drives trucks and operates other motorized equipment as required.
5.Acts as liaison between labor crews and highway maintenance headquarters.
6.Performs semi-skilled or skilled manual tasks on a relief basis.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of the materials, methods, and equipment used in public works maintenance and construction activities.
2.Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions related to the work.
3.Ability to assign, supervise, coordinate, and inspect the activities of subordinate personnel.
4.Ability to follow instructions.
5.Ability to maintain records and make reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Two years of experience performing general laboring, construction, or maintenance tasks, one year of which should have been in a supervisory capacity.

Necessary Special Requirement
Possession of an appropriate class, valid driver license issued by the State of New York.
