GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Supervises subordinates engaged in the production work in a sign shop and in the installation and maintenance of highway signs; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require judgment in supervising subordinates engaged in the production work in a sign shop and in the installation and maintenance of highway signs.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Supervises subordinates engaged in the production work in a sign shop and in the installation and maintenance of highway signs.
2.Supervises the transportation, erection, placement and removal of traffic signs.
3.Keeps time, supplies, and equipment records; maintains inventories and prepares requisitions.
4.Instructs and trains new employees in proper methods and techniques of sign painting or construction.
5.Assists in estimating tool and equipment needs.
6.Participates in skilled sign painting or construction work.

*TYPICAL ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, and techniques used in sign painting, construction, installation and maintenance.
2.Considerable knowledge of New York State Manual of Uniform Traffic Controls and Devices relating to sign construction.
3.Considerable skill in the care and use of tools, paints and equipment used in sign painting and construction work.
4.Ability to supervise, inspect and instruct subordinates in skilled sign painting and construction methods and techniques.
5.Ability to assist in the estimation of tool and equipment needs and to keep records and prepare reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Graduation from vocational or high school
and
Two years of satisfactory experience in the production, maintenance, installation and/or removal of signs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Continued)

Necessary Special Requirement
Continuing possession of an appropriate class, valid driver license issued by the State of New York.

NOTE:Experience in excess of the required two years may be substituted for education on a year for year basis up to a maximum of two years.
